Why are you moving into product management from your current role?

Model answer
Ground the answer in evidence from your current role — a product decision you drove, a user-facing outcome you shaped, a metric you moved. 'I want to grow' is not a reason; 'I already do this and want to do more of it' is.
What great candidates actually do
- Show one concrete PM-shaped project you already led informally.
- Explain what you'll bring FROM your old role — not what you're escaping.
- Read one recent PM book or blog post relevant to the interviewer's company.
Traps to avoid
- Naming the solution before the problem — always restate the goal in one sentence first.
- Answering without structure — pick a framework out loud, then execute it.
- Skipping the trade-off — every strong answer names what you would NOT do and why.
