- Recruiter screen — 30-min fit and salary alignment call.
- Hiring manager — 60 min. Payments domain knowledge, past projects. If you haven't worked on money movement before, prepare 2-3 rich case studies.
- Case study / take-home — 48-72 hours. Design a real payments flow — subscriptions, refunds, split payments. They score on edge-case coverage, not just happy path.
- Case presentation — 60 min. Present the take-home to 2-3 PMs / engineers. Expect deep API and reliability questions.
- Leadership / culture — 45 min. Founder or director round. Ownership stories, why Razorpay, long-term goals.
What Razorpay looks for
- Payments domain awareness — mandates, NPCI, RBI rules, chargebacks.
- Idempotency, retry, and reconciliation instincts.
- Comfort reading API specs and writing acceptance criteria for them.
- Trade-off clarity between speed, cost, and reliability.
- Ownership — willingness to sit with a live incident, not just design one.
